S. M. PATEL COLLEGE OF HOME SCIENCE
The NAAC accredited B+ (77.48%) College was established in 1971 from the donation made by Shri Manibhai Shivabhai Patel with an aim to promote education of women. It is a grant-in-aid institution. The logo of the college is an open book spreading the light of knowledge. The motto is "Ignited Minds Better Tomorrow." The syllabus is updated regularly to keep up with the changing global needs. Counseling is an integral part of the college activities. Each faculty is allocated 25 students for personal and academic counseling.

Eligibility : Higher Secondary examination conducted by the Gujarat Secondary Education Board in any stream or must have passed the vocational stream with vocational group or (+2) technical group or two-year diploma examination conducted by the Gujarat State after 10th (+ 2) std. or any examination of any university or examination body recognized as equivalent thereto. The college is going to launch from the ensuing academic year an add-on career oriented course, namely Sports Nutrition Certificate /Diploma /Advanced Diploma, progressively along with the conventional degree. The college is equipped with a computer centre with internet facilities, as well as a library with adequate books, journals & magazines. The college has a cafeteria, creche and pre-school. An Anganwadi Worker Training Centre to train various cadres of Integrated Child Development Scheme workers is also managed by the college. It houses a study centre of Indira Gandhi National Open University, under the auspices of which it runs M. Sc. in Dietetics & Food Service Management through distance learning. The college has a separate library block, funds for which have been provided by Shri P. T. Patel and family of Kunjrav.
