With the generosity and kind gesture of Shri Ashok Patel and Rita Patel, Charutar Vidya Mandal has been able to fulfill one more of its dreams of integrated study of Biotechnology. Biotechnology is an amalgam of Microbiology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Fermentation Technology, Bioprocess Engineering, Tissue Culture Technology, Molecular Biology, r-DNA Technology and Bioinformatics etc. This field aims at transforming biological principles and inputs into commercial outputs with new, better and quality products. There are rapidly increasing opportunities for the application of biotechnology in the areas of medical and healthcare, manufacture of novel food, proteins, enzymes and chemicals, pharmaceuticals, pollution control and waste management. The Integrated study of Biotechnology is an eleven-semester (52-year) course offering degrees in four branches of biotechnology, viz. General Biotechnology, Environmental Biotechnology, Industrial Biotechnology & Medical Biotechnology leading to M. Sc. Degree of Sardar Patel University.

Those who have passed XII Science with Biology from any recognized board of examinations in India are eligible for admission to the Integrated Biotechnology Programme. Apart from Integrated Biotechnology, the institute offers three additional Master's programmes of two years' duration in Microbiology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry & Biotechnology. These are run at Shri Chunibhai & Chanchalben Patel Post-graduate Centre for Microbiology and Shri Jashbhai & Savitaben Patel Centre for Pharmaceutical Chemistry. Hostel facilities for boys and girls are available. Experienced faculties and counselors are ready to help the students in solving their academic and personal problems.
